Five Palestinians were killed during an Israeli army operation at dawn on Tuesday in the Tulkarm camp in the western occupied West Bank, Palestinian sources told AFP.

Faisal Salama, head of the popular committee in the camp, said, “A mother and her daughter were killed and three young men were bombed by a drone” after the Israeli army entered the camp in the early hours of dawn. The woman and her daughter work as ambulance volunteers inside the camp, according to an activist from the camp who requested anonymity and confirmed the death toll.

The Palestinian Red Crescent stated at dawn on Tuesday that it provided treatment to a 30-year-old man who was hit by a bullet in the abdomen and 3 women, one of whom was injured in the eye.

The official Palestinian News Agency indicated that the dead were killed "in the shelling of an occupation march on a site in the Al-Hamam neighborhood in the Tulkarm camp."

Residents of the camp and the adjacent city of Tulkarm reported that the Israeli army began a large military operation at midnight last night, and that the operation affected agricultural fertilizer shops, before several Israeli tanks entered the Tulkarm camp.

The city of Tulkarm and its camp, in addition to the nearby Norsh Shams camp, are subjected to regular military raids, as Israel accuses Palestinian militants of being present in that area.

At least 579 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank by bullets from the Israeli army or settlers, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip on October 7.

At least 16 Israelis were killed in Palestinian attacks, according to official Israeli data.
