The Israeli occupation army confirmed on Thursday the killing of the leader of the military wing of Hamas, Mohammed Deif, more than two weeks after he was targeted in the Gaza Strip.
The statement explained: "The occupation army announces that on July 13, 2024, fighter jets belonging to the occupation army bombed the Khan Yunis area, and after an intelligence assessment, it can be confirmed that Mohammed Deif was killed in the raid."
The army's attack on the Al-Mawasi area in Khan Yunis resulted in the killing and wounding of hundreds of displaced Palestinians.
There has been controversy over Deif's fate after the raid, although he had previously survived several targeting attempts.
