After her historic achievement by winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics, the Arab audience will be deprived of following the Algerian boxer Iman Khalifa at the upcoming Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
The reason for this is that boxing is not included in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics program, as the International Olympic Committee has repeatedly said that the sport must find a suitable new governing body, most likely by early 2025, in order to return it to the Games’ lineup.
One of the IOC’s units managed the past two Olympic boxing tournaments.
The dispute between the International Boxing Federation and the Paris Olympic Committee deepened because of Iman Khalifa, as the International Federation accused the Algerian boxer of being ineligible to compete with women, due to a test it conducted that showed male chromosomes in her composition.
This story sparked widespread controversy, and the Olympic Committee attacked the Boxing Federation, stressing that Iman was subjected to injustice by the Boxing Federation.
Russian Boxing Federation President Umar Kremlev responded by publicly attacking IOC President Thomas Bach during the Olympics, deepening the rift between boxing and the Olympics.
