Al-Ahly signs with Moroccan Yahya Attiyat Allah

Al-Ahly of Egypt announced on Friday the signing of Moroccan player Yahya Attiyat Allah, after weeks of tug-of-war over the deal.

The player agreed with the management of the Cairo club on a one-season loan with the intention of buying him from the Russian club Sochi.

Amir Tawfik, the executive director of Al-Ahly Football Company and the contracting manager, confirmed that the Moroccan left-back completed the financial and administrative procedures in this regard after reaching an agreement with the Russian club.

Attiyat Allah appeared on the Al-Ahly club website in his country's traditional dress (the Moroccan djellaba) in the promotional advertisement for the deal.

The player is the ideal replacement for Tunisian Ali Maaloul, who underwent surgery on his Achilles tendon last May and will continue his treatment for at least another 3 months, to represent the appropriate solution for the squad of Swiss coach Marcel Koller.

Al-Ahly searched for a player to fill the huge void left by Maaloul, who is one of the legends of Al-Ahly club.

Maaloul's return from injury and his recovery of his technical and physical condition is a concern for Al-Ahly fans, as two foreign players playing in the same position (left-back) will occupy the team's roster.

Al-Ahly may be forced to dispense with Maaloul, who is very popular among the Red fans, or settle for one season with the Moroccan star.

Negotiations with Attiyat Allah had faltered in the past weeks, so Al-Ahly turned its attention to Jamal Chamakh, the left-back of the Hassania Agadir team, according to Egyptian media, but communication regarding the player was recently renewed to agree on his transfer to the Cairo giant for one season with the right to purchase for three seasons.

Attiyat Allah signed the purchase and loan contracts and arrived in Cairo on Thursday, before passing the medical examination on Friday.

The player is 29 years old and was one of the stars of the Moroccan Wydad team and was one of the pillars of the Moroccan national team that won fourth place in the Atlas Lions World Cup. In Qatar
