Al-Mutairi: Kuwait Grand Award for Media to start next year

Minister of Information and Culture Abdul Rahman Al-Mutairi announced today, Sunday, that the Kuwait Grand Prize for Media will be launched next year, coinciding with the naming of Kuwait as the Arab Media Capital for the year 2025.

Minister Al-Mutairi said in a statement to KUNA after a meeting with relevant public benefit associations to discuss the details of the award that will be announced in the coming period that "all technical aspects and basic preparations were discussed to ensure the success of the award project so that it will be a civilized mark in the path of Kuwaiti media."


He added that "the meeting also reviewed the best practices and experiences at the Arab world level in the field of granting media awards."


Minister Al-Mutairi explained that the Kuwait Grand Media Award is a translation of the ministry's strategy and vision in contributing to enhancing purposeful creative content and developing media production and raising its level in a manner that meets the state's aspirations to preserve the Kuwaiti media identity.


He stated that the award aims to monitor innovative trends in Kuwaiti media production and encourage and motivate it to develop creative media energies so that the award will be a prominent Kuwaiti media event held annually.


Minister Al-Mutairi pointed out that the philosophy of the award is based on the idea of ​​media empowerment for purposeful and sustainable content and contributes to developing and enhancing the fields of Kuwaiti media and professional development of media professionals and encouraging innovation.


He said that "the award seeks to achieve a number of strategic goals, including highlighting the status of Kuwaiti media and its pioneering role in the region by honoring media professionals and media institutions that provide distinguished work, in addition to developing the media infrastructure and encouraging international cooperation by hosting international experts in the arbitration committees and exchanging expertise with media professionals from around the world."


Minister Al-Mutairi added that "the award includes a number of branches in which competition is held, namely radio, television, traditional press, and electronic media through television and radio drama in its various branches, cultural programs, children's and family programs, youth, sports, scientific, economic and development programs, news reports, and national and social songs."


He explained that the Kuwait Appreciation Award for Media will be created, which will be awarded to those who have provided distinguished services for decades and have distinguished creativity and contributions of high media value and are Kuwaiti media figures, and the award will be awarded annually.


Minister Al-Mutairi pointed out that a technical committee of specialists and experts will be formed to determine the objectives and classification of the awards and their branches, set technical and professional standards and conditions for each field, determine the time periods for opening and closing the nomination period, and set the executive regulations for the award.


He stated that the award is supervised by a higher committee formed annually to undertake the tasks of the mechanism for announcing the award and its branches, selecting the media personality nominated to win the Kuwait Appreciation Award, forming arbitration committees, supervising the marketing campaign and award celebration, and determining the events accompanying the award, stressing that the award criteria will take into account transparency, integrity, diversity, inclusiveness, innovation, creativity, sustainable development, and international cooperation.
