US President Joe Biden announced in a statement issued on Sunday that he will not run for a new presidential term in the 2024 elections, stressing that he will focus on performing his duties as president for the rest of his term and that he supports the Democratic Party’s nomination of his deputy Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential elections after he withdrew from the race.

Biden expressed his deep gratitude to all who worked to get him re-elected, and extended his special thanks to Vice President Kamala Harris for her exceptional working partnership.
Biden concluded his statement by saying, "There is nothing America can't do when we work together. We just have to remember that we are the United States of America."
Biden followed up his statement with another post on the X platform in which he said, “Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement to Kamala to be our party’s nominee this year.”
“In a statement on his official page on the X platform, he said: ‘My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My first decision as the party’s candidate in 2020 was to choose Kamala Harris as my Vice President. That was the best decision I made.
