Houthi media said that the city of Hodeidah witnessed a series of Israeli air strikes, the day after an attack by a Houthi march on the city of Tel Aviv in Israel.
Israeli media said that the strike was carried out by 12 F-35 aircraft. Axios correspondent Barak Ravid, quoting a senior American official, said that Israel carried out the attack in Yemen.
Sources said that eyewitnesses in the Israeli city of Eilat saw Israeli fighters launching from the Neftim base in the Negev towards the Red Sea about two hours before the raids.
The raids on Hodeidah come a day after the Houthi attack via drone on the city of Tel Aviv.
"Pure" Israeli work
Israeli Channel 12 revealed that members of the Israeli government were summoned and notified 45 minutes before the attack on Hodeidah began, and the Council of Ministers approved the attack plans.
The Axios website quoted an Israeli official as saying, "The attack on Yemen is a purely Israeli action."
He added, quoting an Israeli official, that the port of Hodeidah was granted immunity due to the arrival of humanitarian aid to it, but most of the aid goes to the Houthis and not to Yemeni citizens.
The official said, "The port of Hodeidah is a terrorist infrastructure and a legitimate military target and is used by the Houthis to obtain weapons."
The website revealed that the Israeli Defense Minister spoke to his American counterpart on Friday and informed him that Israel would likely respond to the Houthi attack on Tel Aviv.
Israeli army statement
Today, Saturday, the Israeli army announced the targeting of Houthi sites in the Hodeidah region in Yemen.
The army said in a statement: “The raids came in response to hundreds of attacks against the State of Israel over recent months.”
He added, "There is no change in the instructions of the home front, and if any change occurs, we will announce it."
Houthi group's comment
The Houthi spokesman said, "The Israeli attack will increase our determination to support Gaza."
He continued, "Pressing Yemen to stop supporting Gaza is a dream that will not come true."
An official in the Houthi group considered that the Israeli attack would not have occurred without the alliance, support and participation of America and Britain.
He added that Israel "will pay the price" for its strikes in Yemen.
