Canadian singer Celine Dion said Saturday that the use of her song "My Heart Will Go On" from the movie "Titanic" at a campaign rally for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in Montana was unauthorized.
The hit song and its video were played at the former US president's campaign rally in Bozeman, Montana, on a large screen near the stage.
The singer wrote on her social media account: "This use is in no way authorized, and Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use."
Dion, a five-time Grammy winner, is best known for the song.
Dion reportedly refused to sing at Trump’s inauguration in January 2017 when the former president took office after winning the 2016 election. Trump held a rally where Dion’s song was played on Friday, where he attacked Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris on a personal level, criticizing her for not doing interviews or holding major press conferences since she became his presidential rival after President Joe Biden decided not to run for president in the upcoming election.
Celine Dion posted a statement on her X account stating.
Today, Celine Dion’s management team and her record label, Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc., became aware of the unauthorized usage of the video, recording, musical performance, and likeness of Celine Dion singing “My Heart Will Go On” at a Donald Trump / JD Vance campaign rally in Montana.
In no way is this use authorized, and Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use.
…And really, THAT song?
