The alliance of the Chinese Sinohydro Company, the Kuwait Bridge Construction Projects Company and the Chinese Railway Engineering Company, in a ceremony held today in Farwaniya Governorate in Kuwait, handed over the Seventh Ring Road Project to the Kuwait Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport in the presence of representatives of the companies and the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait.

Director General of the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport, Raja Al-Momen, said during an interview with Xinhua that the completion of the project and receipt of the Seventh Ring Road is a major achievement for Chinese companies in Kuwait and represents a symbol of cooperation between the two friendly countries.

For his part, the engineer at the General Authority for Roads and Land Transport and the project supervisor, Muhammad Murad, told Xinhua News Agency, “What I would most like to highlight in the Seventh Ring Road project is the modern design of means of transportation, as it greatly facilitates movement for travelers,” adding. ((Traditional traffic signals used to cause major traffic congestion on this road, but the current project solved this problem radically by designing several multi-level bridges, that is, a bridge upon a bridge.)

Murad added that the Seventh Ring Road is one of the main highways of the regional network in the south of the country, where there are many cities and new residential areas with high population density near Kuwaiti oil companies. In addition, the project connects the new Kuwait International Airport building and residents of the coastal areas in the west of the country, which contributes to In improving the effectiveness of local transportation.


In this regard, Li Chenggang, the main representative of Sinohydro in Kuwait, confirmed to Xinhua News Agency that the completion of the Seventh Ring Road project greatly improves the efficiency of local traffic and improves the safe driving environment as well, noting that the total length of this project It is 21.9 km.

Li Chengfang said that the Seven Ring Road project includes 10 lanes in both directions and includes 6 intersections with 3 floors, stressing at the same time the use of high standards in paving the road through the use of asphalt that is highly resistant to high temperature and corrosion, which gives it the ability to adapt to the local hot climate and reduce The risk of car tires exploding while driving.


For his part, Hu Hanming, Commercial Advisor to the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait, said during his speech at the ceremony that Chinese companies have gradually become a strong and important participant in economic development and infrastructure construction in Kuwait, considering that the completion of the Seventh Ring Road project is an achievement of the “Happiness Road” as it facilitates travel and transportation for Kuwaitis. It enhances their well-being, and also the “Friendship Road” as an achievement to enhance cooperation between China and Kuwait and deepen bilateral relations between the two countries.

It is noteworthy that the general contractor for the Seventh Ring Road Project (RA/240) is Sinohydro Company, which is an alliance formed by the Chinese Sinohydro Company, the Chinese Railway Engineering Company, and the Kuwaiti Bridge Company. Work on the project began on December 22, 2016 and was completed after six years and seven months, and the contract value was About 76.12 million Kuwaiti dinars (about 220 million US dollars).
