A statement by the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum stated that Cairo is considering adding another floating storage and gasification unit to the facilities of Ain Sokhna Port.
The statement said, “Adding another floating unit” for storage and gasification in Ain Sokhna is being studied, “with the possibility of using the current liquefaction facilities in the Damietta and Edku regions in reverse.”
It is noteworthy that at the end of last June, Reuters reported sources saying that the Egyptian government had awarded a bid to purchase 17 shipments of liquefied natural gas for delivery during the summer.
The largest Arab country in terms of population plans to purchase between 15 and 20 shipments of liquefied natural gas to cover the increasing demand for energy during the summer.
The sources said that Egypt is seeking three more shipments for delivery between August and September.
