The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said that a total shutdown occurred this morning, Saturday, of gas processing units by the Kuwait National Petroleum Company, which led to a reduction in the quality of gas sent by them to some electricity generation units in power plants and water distillation.
The ministry explained in a statement that it had accordingly reduced the electrical loads on those units in order to preserve the electrical system. The statement indicated that the gas processing units had been operated by the Kuwait National Petroleum Company and the situation is being monitored.
He added that the ministry may regretfully be forced to cut off electricity to some non-residential areas if necessary in order to preserve the stability of the electrical system in the country.
He pointed out that any new updates regarding the status of the electrical network will be announced through the ministry's official accounts on social media platforms. He called on customers to rationalize electricity consumption during the upcoming peak hours by following the ministry's instructions in this regard.
