French prosecutors announced on Saturday that Egyptian Olympic wrestler Mohamed Ibrahim Kishou, who was arrested in Paris on harassment charges, has been released with all charges against him dropped.
The Tokyo bronze medalist was arrested early Friday after groping a woman outside a Paris cafe.
A statement from the Paris prosecutor's office on Saturday said the police detention order for the 26-year-old Olympic wrestler "has been lifted and all proceedings (against him) terminated without further action because the crime is not serious enough."
The public prosecutor's office told AFP: "We confirm that the precautionary detention has been lifted today, as well as the closure of the investigation without further action due to lack of evidence."
The athlete was taken from the police station to Charles de Gaulle airport in preparation for his return to Cairo on Saturday, it added.
The Egyptian Olympic Committee said in a statement on Saturday that the investigation into the sexual harassment allegations against Kishou had been closed.
She pointed out that the wrestler's release came after reviewing surveillance camera footage of the alleged incident.
