French authorities have opened an investigation into death threats and online harassment targeting Thomas Joly, the director of the 2024 Olympics opening ceremony, the Paris prosecutor's office said on Friday.
Jolie filed a complaint after receiving threats and online attacks over what appeared to be a parody of Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper."
The scene has angered the Catholic Church, far-right politicians in France and right-wing conservatives in the United States.
The organizers of the Paris 2024 Olympics later apologized, saying there was no intention to show disrespect to any religious group.
