Today, Sunday, the Ministry of Health launched the digital linking project between hospitals and medical warehouses in the Subhan area, as part of its efforts to develop health services, enhance drug security, and improve the supply chain for medicines and medical supplies.
The ministry said in a press statement that the project was implemented through comprehensive technical and executive stages, as the technical stages began with unifying the types of medicines and supplies between hospitals and warehouses, then a timetable was set for orders, their quantities, how to deliver, examine and distribute them to hospital pharmacies.
She added that "the executive stage included determining the required quantities of medicines and supplies for each hospital, as orders began at Farwaniya Hospital, then Mubarak Hospital and Jahra Hospital," noting that the rest of the hospitals are currently being prepared to implement the link.
The ministry confirmed that this new electronic system facilitates the process of ordering medicines and medical supplies, as hospital orders range from 200 to 600 items in a single order, which improves the management of their dispensing and distribution at the appropriate time.
She explained that through this link, it aims to reduce the documentary cycle and ensure the availability of medicines and medical supplies at the appropriate time, which enhances safe health practices and supports drug safety for patients.
