South Korea's disease control agency said today that the number of heat-related deaths will nearly quadruple year-on-year in 2023 as the country experiences an unusual heatwave.
The Disease Control and Prevention Agency said 32 people were presumed to have died from heat-related illness this year as of Friday, compared to nine people last year. It is noteworthy that this number is the largest since 2018, when South Korea recorded 48 heat-related deaths. South Korea began collecting relevant data in 2011, according to the German newspaper.
