The CDC added in a statement, “There are no signs of an otherwise unexpected increase in influenza activity in Colorado or in other states affected by the emergence of the H5N1 strain of avian influenza among cattle and poultry.”

The statement stated that the three individuals were suffering from mild symptoms.

The statement said that the infection occurred among workers who were culling infected birds in a poultry facility where the H5N1 strain of bird flu had spread.

The US Centers explained that the risk to people in general is still low and that it will send a team to Colorado to support the investigation into the matter.

The centers indicated that the three workers were exposed to the virus through handling infected birds.
