Iranian President-elect Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, today, Saturday, expressed his aspiration to enter into a “constructive” dialogue with European countries with the aim of putting relations between the two parties on the “correct” track. Pezeshkian added, in an article published in the Iranian English-language newspaper “Tehran Times,” that “despite the wrong steps taken by European countries, I look forward to entering into a constructive dialogue with them with the aim of putting relations on the right track based on the principles of mutual respect and equality.” He pointed out that Europe "reneged" on its commitments that were supposed to be made to save the nuclear agreement and mitigate the impact of the sanctions imposed by the United States on the Iranian economy. He also indicated that Tehran “will put strengthening relations with our neighbors at its top priority,” explaining that “the time has come to address common challenges among the countries of the region for a better future for future generations.”
Regarding the ongoing Israeli occupation war against the people of the Gaza Strip, the Iranian president-elect said, “I will work to stop the massacre in Gaza and prevent the expansion of the war,” calling on all countries under the 1948 Genocide Convention to take the necessary measures to prevent genocide. Regarding the relations between his country, Russia and China, Pezeshkian stressed that “both Russia and China stood by Tehran during difficult times, and we value this friendship very much.” He considered Russia “a strategic ally of Iran,” stressing that his administration “will remain committed to expanding cooperation with it and that Tehran wishes peace for the Russian and Ukrainian peoples and will support initiatives aimed at achieving this goal.” On the other hand, Pezeshkian expressed his aspiration for broader cooperation with Beijing, saying that “the road map that Iran concluded with China, which extends over a period of 25 years, represents an important milestone towards establishing a comprehensive strategic partnership that is beneficial to both parties.” Regarding the relations between Iran and Latin American countries, Pezeshkian stressed that this relationship “is well-established and will be closely preserved and deepened with the aim of promoting development, dialogue and cooperation in all fields.”
