Israeli media revealed today, Wednesday, that Israel will inform Egypt of its agreement to withdraw its forces from the Rafah crossing and the Philadelphia axis.
The Israeli newspaper Jerusalem Post said, “An Israeli delegation will inform Egyptian officials of their approval to withdraw Israeli forces from the Rafah crossing and the Philadelphia axis.”
According to the newspaper, Israel informed Egypt, yesterday, Tuesday, that a security delegation would arrive in Cairo, today, Wednesday, to discuss several points in the swap deal negotiations with the Egyptians, according to local Egyptian media.
The newspaper quoted Egyptian media reports saying that Israel informed Cairo that it had “agreed to the conditions related to the Philadelphia axis and the Rafah crossing.”
It was also reported that an Egyptian security delegation will head to Doha on Thursday to participate in meetings to reach an agreement and a temporary ceasefire for a period of 6 weeks.
Hamas demands
Before that, Hamas informed Egypt that it awaits and expects a complete cessation of military operations inside the Gaza Strip to continue negotiations, according to the Jerusalem Post.
Hamas also demanded the release of about 1,000 prisoners in exchange for a third of the living Israeli detainees, and also required the entry of 600 trucks daily for 42 days.
Hamas' additional demand was to begin aid operations, restore infrastructure, and bring in fuel and gas.
Hamas also demanded that the Rafah crossing be reactivated without an Israeli presence.
