"I am very happy to be with you, and I was very keen to be with you this summer," with these words Kazem El Saher welcomed the audience of the Carthage International Festival as part of the activities of its 58th session.
The artist Kazem El Saher, who has been absent from the Carthage Festival for 6 years, revived an evening described as one of the most beautiful Carthage evenings in front of the audience who loved him and supported him since his beginnings.
The Iraqi artist presented a bouquet of his old and new songs, including "Impossible Love", "Piano", "Night", "The Window", "My Birthday", "Marart Bisdry", "Hel Andak Dok", "Sayyidat Omri Al Fadila" and "Kolk Ala Baadk Helou".
El Saher met the Carthage audience as part of his world tour this year, which he called "Between Yesterday and Today", which he launched from Dubai and then led him to Cairo, Beirut, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia, awaiting Turkey and the Sultanate of Oman.
Al-Saher's artistic journey came a few months after the release of his new album "With Love", which included 13 poems, all composed and sung by Kazem Al-Saher.
Between nostalgia and discovery
Kazem Al-Saher sang for two hours on the Carthage Roman Theater in front of an audience of different generations who had reserved their seats since the Carthage Festival announced the concert date and came in the thousands to meet the Caesar, who they said had not changed in his diligence and respect for his audience throughout his 40-year career.
One of the attendees, named Rawda, spoke to Sky News Arabia saying that she had attended most of the Iraqi star's evenings at Tunisian festivals and that she knows that Al-Saher respects his audience. As usual, he was keen on performing all of his songs in full on Saturday night, despite the audience accompanying him in singing. He also listened to their singing requests and fulfilled most of them with love.
As for Samah, she said, "Kazem El Saher always proves that he is a great artist in terms of voice, presence and humility. Tonight, his band was complete on stage with musicians to whom he remained loyal throughout his career, just as he remained loyal to his Tunisian audience who came from all generations, to the point that young people in their twenties requested very old songs by El Saher, proving that the artist's musical legacy reaches the hearts of all generations."
In turn, Murad told us about his enjoyment of the concert, saying, "Despite the long hours of waiting to enter the theater, which was packed with thousands, and despite the fact that I obtained tickets with difficulty and at a high price on the black market, I did not regret coming tonight to see Kazem El Saher, as he is the voice that comes from the era of great artists."
For her part, the journalist interested in the arts, Hadia Darwish, said that Kazem El Saher's stage presence in Carthage was remarkable and had a lot of harmony with his musical group, noting that the Iraqi star seemed affected when he sang "Impossible Love" and was not happy as usual with his performance of "Do You Have Any Doubt", but he proved his respect for the audience and his perseverance when he sang non-stop on the Carthage stage.
Public and official tribute to El Saher
It is worth noting that nearly 8,000 people attended Kazem El Saher's concert in Carthage and interacted with all the Iraqi poems and songs he presented, while he was received by the Minister of Culture, Moncef Boukthir, and the festival director, Kamal Ferjani, to be honored by Tunisia at the end of the concert when the Minister of Culture presented him with the Carthage Festival shield.
