Kuwaiti Dr. Futooh Al-Raqam Selected Among the World's Top Energy Scientists

The Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research announced today, Monday, that the American Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) has selected its Kuwaiti scientific researcher, Dr. Futooh Al-Raqam, to be among the world's top energy scientists and engineers. She is the first Arab woman to achieve this high status.

The institute said in a press release that selecting Dr. Al-Raqam among the world's top energy scientists is considered an international presence for Kuwait, which enhances its global position in the field of energy and highlights the pioneering role of Kuwaiti women in this field. He added that "joining this elite is done according to precise conditions, including that the candidate has no less than 20 years of achievements in energy management, and has received awards and certificates of appreciation."


The institute explained that among the conditions for joining is that the candidate has published scientific papers and patents according to the protocol followed. Any member joins through a nomination by some members, then the (committee) studies the nominations, ensuring that the approved criteria are met, and then the matter is put to a vote.


He pointed out that this year's competition was between 12 candidates and resulted in Dr. Al-Raqam winning, stressing that Dr. Al-Raqam's election was the culmination of her distinguished career of more than 25 years in the field of energy management and efficiency.


It is worth noting that Dr. Al-Raqam holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida in Gainesville and has extensive experience in energy conservation, air conditioning and hydrogen production. She has supervised many important research projects.


Dr. Al-Raqam has gained international recognition in the field of energy auditing and has succeeded in establishing the American Society of Energy Engineers branch in Kuwait. She currently holds the presidency and seeks to enhance regional and international cooperation in the field of energy through her position as Assistant Director of International Development for the Middle East region in the Society.


Among the most prominent awards that Dr. Al-Raqam has received are the Emirates Energy Award, the Distinguished Arab Engineer Award from the Federation of Arab Engineers, and the International Professional Development Award from the Society of Energy Engineers in the United States of America.
