Mohammed bin Zayed announces the era of union in the Emirates

On Thursday, the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, announced a new national event called Union Era Day.

He said in a post on the X website, "formerly Twitter": "On this day in 1971, the founding father and his ruling brothers signed the document of union and the constitution of the Emirates, and announced the name of our country, the United Arab Emirates, in preparation for the union on December 2."

He added, "A historic day in which they established the era and foundations of the Union."

Sheikh Mohammed explained: “Today we declare July 18 a national occasion called (Union Era Day), in which we celebrate the history of our country and the blessed steps to establish the Union.”
