Musk reveals a question he always repeats in job interviews

Job interviews often rely on certain methods to identify the capabilities of applicants and the honesty of their answers.

The famous American billionaire Elon Musk revealed his use of one of the common questions in this context, as he said that he always asks the question "Tell me about some of the most difficult problems you have worked on and how you solved them."

"Asymmetric information management" is an interview technique designed to prove that applicants are telling the truth about their work experience in detail.

If the applicant is able to answer Musk's open-ended question with a specific and detailed answer, then he is likely telling the truth according to the technique.

According to the Daily Mail, researcher Cody Porter said: "Small details are the lifeblood of criminal investigations. If witnesses provide longer and more detailed statements about the event, the investigator will be better able to discover whether they are telling the truth or lying."

Porter's statement applies to job applicants, as the lack of details in the answer can be evidence of its inaccuracy.

Musk’s hiring process is unique: Instead of looking for a college degree, or even a high school diploma, he looks for “evidence of exceptional ability” when it comes to hiring new employees.

“If you have a track record of exceptional achievement, you’re more likely to continue that in the future,” Musk says.

That’s why Musk asks every interviewer the same question: “It’s easy to lie on a resume, but it’s hard to come up with a detailed lie on the spot.”
