French police revealed that the fiber optic network in several regions of France was subjected to "sabotage" on Monday.
A French police source said on Monday that the fibre optic network of several telecom companies in six French regions was subjected to "nighttime sabotage", without affecting internet connectivity in Paris.
The acts of sabotage that hit areas in the north, east, southeast and southwest of France come three days after an "attack" on the railway network disrupted high-speed train traffic, hours before the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics held in the French capital on Friday.
The latest acts of sabotage on the fibre optic network also affected landline telephone lines, according to information obtained by the French newspaper "Le Parisien".
Vandals targeted France's high-speed train network in a series of coordinated attacks that caused major disruptions on some of the country's busiest railway lines ahead of the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris on Friday.
The state-owned railway operator said the vandals targeted facilities along lines linking Paris to cities such as Lille in the north, Bordeaux in the west and Strasbourg in the east.
