Fede Valverde opened the scoring for Real Madrid in the 59th minute before newcomer Kylian Mbappe added the second goal.
Real Madrid won the European Super Cup title for the sixth time in its history, becoming the continent's most decorated club.
Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti also won his fifth title in this competition, and the 14th with Real in various competitions.
Mbappe scores his first goal
Real Madrid's new French striker Kylian Mbappe scored his first goal in his first official match with the team against Atalanta.
The French national team captain gave Real a 2-0 lead against the European League champion in the 68th minute after a pass from Englishman Jude Bellingham.
Fede Valverde had given Los Blancos the lead (58).
All eyes were on Warsaw, where Mbappe played his first official match for Real Madrid as a starter, after joining early this summer from Paris Saint-Germain.
