The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Ukraine used Western missiles, most likely US-made HIMARS, to destroy a bridge over the Seim River in the Kursk region, killing volunteers trying to evacuate civilians.
"For the first time, the Kursk region was hit by Western-made, most likely US-made HIMARS, rocket launchers," Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said late Friday on Telegram.
"As a result of the attack, the bridge over the Seim River in the Glushkovo region was completely destroyed, and volunteers who helped evacuate civilians were killed," she added.
Ukraine: 14 Russian drones shot down
Separately, the Ukrainian Air Force said on Saturday that the country's air defense systems had shot down all 14 drones launched by Russia overnight.
The air force said in a statement on Telegram that the drones were shot down over six Ukrainian regions in the south and center of the country.
