The Ministry of Interior announced on Tuesday that the General Administration of the Coast Guard, represented by the Maritime Transport Department, has updated the official number of marine vessels to consist of numbers only instead of Arabic numbers and letters.
The Ministry said in a statement to the General Department of Security Relations and Media that this update comes based on the security institution’s strategy aimed at facilitating and developing its services provided to the public. It explained that the new system facilitates the organization and classification of marine vessels according to the type of activity and marine vessel license and consists of (administrative number / piece number). This update will be applied to new registration cases and renewal of the ownership book.
She gave an illustrative example of the new system for the official number of marine vessels (type of license): fishing (administrative number: 10) / excursion (administrative number: 20) / trips (administrative number: 30) / marine bicycles (administrative number: 40) / government (government number). Administrative: 50) / Commercial (Administrative Number: 60) / Diving (Administrative Number: 70) / Marine Business (Administrative Number: 80).
She added that the marine piece number: 12345 (the special number for the marine piece) is in the ownership book, consisting of the administrative number and the marine piece number.
She called on those who own marine vessels to comply with the law, noting that any violation in the use of the activity or the license for the marine vessel will lead to the necessary legal measures being taken against them.
