The Minister of Commerce and Industry and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Muhammad Al-Aiban, said today, Sunday, that the visit of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God protect him and protect him, to the Republic of China will witness a number of important agreements, whether with regard to infrastructure, industries, and the establishment of housing and labor cities.


This came in a statement to reporters during his participation in the Chinese Embassy’s ceremony on the occasion of the 74th anniversary of the founding of the Republic, in the presence of the Chief of the Court of His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and the Minister of Finance, Fahd Al-Jarallah.

Al-Aiban stressed that the visit of His Highness the Crown Prince and his accompanying delegation in the coming days reflects the extent of Kuwaiti-Chinese cooperation in the future, noting that these announced high-level visits are only a prelude to fruitful cooperation in the coming days.

When asked about the volume of Kuwaiti investment in China, Minister Al-Aiban said that the one who owns these numbers is the Investment Authority, “but we are looking forward to bringing Chinese investment to Kuwait as well.”

For his part, Chinese Ambassador to the country Zhang Jianwei stressed in a speech during the ceremony that Chinese-Kuwaiti relations are a role model for exchanges, as they have reached a high level of development and prosperity, stressing his country’s determination to enhance economic and trade cooperation with Kuwait.

Jianwei added that high-level visits between the two countries play an important role in developing this relationship, which “we are always keen to maintain and develop,” noting that Kuwait is the first Gulf country to establish diplomatic relations with his country, and it is also the first Arab country to take the initiative to sign a memorandum of understanding with China regarding joint construction. He pointed out that his country is working to deepen cooperation with Kuwait in various fields, constantly strengthen the bonds of common interests, and achieve mutual benefit and common win for both sides.
