The Kuwaiti-Saudi joint committee discusses work reports in the Khafji and Wafra operations

The Permanent Kuwaiti-Saudi Joint Committee held its 116th meeting today, Sunday, at the headquarters of the Wafra Joint Operations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil, Sheikh Dr. Nimr Fahd Al-Malik Al-Sabah, and the Assistant Saudi Minister of Energy, Muhammad Al-Ibrahim.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Oil said in a press statement that the committee meeting reviewed reports on petroleum operations in the onshore divided zone and the submerged divided zone adjacent to it, strategic plans, existing and future major projects, obstacles facing the implementation of the plans, if any, and the use of advanced modern technologies in petroleum operations.


She stated that the meeting also reviewed the report on the progress of the work of the Permanent Joint Committee Office and looked into the plans prepared for emergency situations and the procedures followed in the current period and the contribution to providing the available capabilities as well as their continuous development and evaluation in order to obtain the best results.


She indicated that the efforts of the members of the operational committee were reviewed, the objectives of the joint operations were achieved, and a joint action plan was formulated to achieve the strategic interests of the two countries. She appreciated all the efforts made by human cadres from the Kuwaiti and Saudi sides, praising at the same time the continuous and persistent efforts of the leaders of the two sides in the Khafji and Al-Wafra joint operations, which It had a significant impact on the implementation of operational plans.


The statement quoted Sheikh Nimr Al-Sabah as emphasizing the importance of continuing to hold meetings of the Joint Committee to address the obstacles facing the implementation of strategic plans, environmental and safety projects, development plans, training of national workers, the use of advanced modern technologies in the stages of petroleum operations, reviewing the work progress report in the permanent office of the committee, and considering the plans prepared for the cases. Emergency procedures and procedures followed in the current period and contributing to the provision of available capabilities as well as their continuous development and evaluation in order to obtain better results.


He expressed his thanks to the Saudi side for the positive and fraternal spirit he felt, looking forward to realizing the hopes of the two countries in petroleum projects through coordination between the Kuwaiti Ministry of Oil and the Saudi Ministry of Energy through the facilities provided and tangible cooperation to facilitate petroleum projects related to the divided and flooded region and ensuring the facilitation of petroleum work in the joint operations of Wafra and Khafji. And the safety of workers in the operating companies, which include (Aramco Gulf Works) and (Saudi Arabian Chevron) in addition to the Kuwait Gulf Oil Company.


The Permanent Kuwaiti-Saudi Joint Committee was established in accordance with the agreement to divide the neutral zone signed between the two sides in 1965. It reports directly to the ministers of oil and energy from both sides, and one of its most important duties is facilitating the passage and procedures for workers in petroleum companies in the divided zone and ensuring the continuation of efforts in making good use of the common natural resources and conducting studies. related to this matter and study of new licences, contracts and privileges related to the divided area.
