The Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Department of Correctional Institutions, opened today, Monday, the new building for the Department of Deportation and Temporary Detention Affairs in Sulaibiya, based on the instructions of the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Yousef Saud Al-Sabah.
The ministry said in a statement by the General Department of Security Relations and Media that the General Department of Correctional Institutions has begun transferring deportation awaiting deportation (men and women) to the new building in several stages.
It added that this step comes as an embodiment of Minister Al-Yousef's keenness to support projects that meet the needs of inmates of correctional institutions on an ongoing basis, explaining that the new building is distinguished by its application of all international standards related to respecting human rights, as it includes many service facilities.
It stated that this step comes within a series of development projects aimed at improving the work environment in correctional institutions, enhancing the rights of inmates, and continuing to modernize and develop correctional facilities in line with international standards and ensuring the provision of the necessary care for them.
