The US military announced on Wednesday that it had intercepted two Russian military aircraft and two Chinese aircraft that were operating in the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone, although they remained in international airspace.
“Russian and Chinese aircraft remained in international airspace and did not enter US or Canadian sovereign airspace,” North American Aerospace Defense Command said in a statement.
Reuters quoted the US military as saying that the planes did not pose a threat, and that it would continue to monitor “competitor activity” near North America.
