The European Football Association (UEFA) decided to conduct an investigation into a gesture made by Jude Bellingham, the England national team midfielder, after he scored the equalizer in the last minutes of the match in which his team won over Slovakia 2-1, on Sunday, in the round of sixteen in the European Cup. The British news agency (PA Media) reported that the Real Madrid star pointed towards the Slovakia substitutes' bench after his goal, in which he succeeded in scoring the equalizer for the English national team in the final minutes of the round of 16 in Gelsenkirchen.
UEFA issued a statement on Monday, saying: The Ethics and Disciplinary Committee will conduct an investigation regarding a possible violation of the appropriate conduct regulations on the part of England national team player Jude Bellingham, after this occurred during a match.
He added: Any information regarding this matter will be announced in due course.
Billingham posted on his account on the “X” platform about that reference after the match, saying: It was an internal joke with some close friends who attended the match, nothing but respect for the Slovak national team, which played the match strongly.
