Wall Street ends week lower despite paring losses

U.S. stocks ended the week lower, but Wall Street pared sharp losses at the start of the week as recession fears eased after weaker-than-expected jobs data.

The S&P 500 closed higher on Friday, little changed for the week after rebounding from Monday’s sharp drop on fears of a U.S. recession.


Investors are now turning their focus to the U.S. consumer price index and producer price index due next week for more clues on the Federal Reserve’s path forward.


Stock movements

Last week, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.6 percent to 39,497.54.


The S&P 500 posted a slight weekly decline to 5,344.16.


The Nasdaq Composite Index fell 0.18 percent to 16,745.30 points.
