Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed on Thursday that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization stands on the right side of history and on the side of justice, and that the organization is vital to the world.
During the 24th meeting of the Council of Heads of Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Jin Ping said: "The Shanghai Cooperation Organization stands on the right side of history, on the side of justice and neutrality, and is very important for the world."
According to the Chinese leader, the changes the world is witnessing are currently accelerating, and human society is once again standing at a crossroads in history.
He added: “(SCO countries) must commit to inclusiveness, jointly promote technological innovation, ensure stability, continuity and smooth production and supply, strengthen the domestic drivers of regional economies and promote the achievement of common development goals.”
He pointed out that in the face of the real danger of "building small squares and high walls", SCO countries must "protect the right to development."
The meeting of the Council of Heads of Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization began with a signing ceremony of documents related to granting Belarus full membership in the organization, and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced Minsk's admission to the organization.
